Jharokha is a prominent feature of classical Indian architecture.
Traditionally, it used to be a wooden / stone window projecting from the wall face of a building, in an upper story. Overlooking a street, market, court or any other open space. The same concept of public interaction in interior spaces to maintain visual communication between the two floor levels.
-A projecting window
-Often latticed or screened
